Founded by violinist Miranda Liu, the MiraTone Festival and Academy welcomes audiences to its seventh edition in the heart of Budapest. Over the years, the event has grown into one of the region’s most important classical music festivals, drawing acclaimed artists and young talents from across the globe.
True to tradition, the festival begins with the chamber music of Beethoven. This opening night’s program is inspired by a legendary recital held in Budapest in 1918 by Jenő Hubay and Ernő Dohnányi, who performed these very same sonatas. The evening offers a musical time-travel experience—reviving the vibrancy of early 20th-century Budapest’s concert life through contemporary interpretation.
Three of Beethoven’s early but expressive violin sonatas will be performed by long-time chamber music partners Miranda Liu and László Borbély. Their shared musical language and finely tuned collaboration bring these works to life with clarity and warmth. The refined Sonata in A major is followed by the joyful, ever-popular “Spring” Sonata, culminating in the stormy and impassioned Sonata in C minor.
The concert is more than an opening—it’s an invitation. Celebrate the start of the 7th MiraTone Festival with us, and let Beethoven’s music resonate across centuries, becoming something intimate, timeless, and alive.
