Compared to Swan Lake, the well-known version of the classical ballet, I wished to rephrase the piece from another aspect, in a different light. In my interpretation, Siegfried is a young man with a split mind, who is being held captive by the traumas of his childhood as a result of his relationship with his mother.

We don’t really understand why he does what he does – Hermes is an enigma. His personality irritates us, yet there is something about him that captivates us. How does he enchant us? What is at the heart of the magic that this taboo-breaking, charming and arrogant trickster casts on us?

This production of the FrenÁk Company features adynamic team, the members of a new generation. The young, creative dancers draw on the energies of their colourful cultural and linguistic differences as they bring a new creative approach to FrenÁk’s concept. Az esztendő menetét mondókákkal, a népszokások megelevenítésével követjük.

Sally fejében öt eltérő karakterű nő él, akik nem tudnak egymásról. Sally szorongó, magányosan él. Nola, a kimért elegancia, intellektuális művészlélek. Derry mindig derűs, viccelődő, hetyke. Bella, az érzéki csábító, imád énekelni és táncolni. Jinx, maga a megtestesült düh és agresszió. A flamenco sajátossága, hogy különböző ágai, más-más érzelmet fejeznek ki, így az öt személyiséget egy-egy “palo” hívja életre. A műfaj csak eszköze az üzenetnek, mégis a történet emeli ki annak sokszínűségét.

Dénes klasszikus balett hallgató, társaival együtt kisgyerekként került ebbe a szigorú és különleges világba, alig ismeri az iskola falain túli valóságot. Az utolsó előtti évben váratlanul eltűnik az iskolából Barna, a legjobb barátja. Miközben Dénes megpróbálja kideríteni, mi történt a fiúval, belső utazásra indul, amelyen szembe kell néznie önmagával, jó döntés hozott-e, amikor egész életét a balettra tette fel.

The story of Hansel and Gretel is both about growing up and about taking responsibility and standing up for ourselves and our loved ones. The story encourages children to set off on their own explorations, even in the realms of their own imagination. In fairy tales, all difficulties can be overcome—not only the real ones, but also the dangers created by an overly anxious imagination.
