János Bródy-concert
The Essence of Songs Old and New
János Bródy's latest album, Gáz van, babám! (‘We've Got Trouble, Baby'), the ninth in his line of successful releases, seems to be more and more relevant every day. Still active at the age of 77, the musical icon is preparing for Budapest's acoustically best endowed concert hall a special show featuring a painstakingly compiled programme of familiar songs along with his most recent compositions.
After his legendary stints as a member of Illés and Fonográf, Bródy has for several decades been following his own path, with his music. The Kossuth Prize- and Liszt Award-winning artist is a faithful chronicler of our country's history and its riches of twists, turns and repetitions, as well as a consistent representative of the shared values adopted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Bródy has remained true to himself to this day: his nine independent albums and classic songs that remain entirely relevant today prove that his talent as an songwriter and performer allows him to articulate the dreams and disappointments of his generation in an authentic way that anyone can relate to. On the rapidly revolving stage of popular music, the legendary artist has always remained the eternal Tini (that was his nickname as a teenager), whose poetry recast into songs - tempered by his trademark irony - casts a spell on those who dream of a more beautiful and just world.
