PROGRAM
Prokofjev: Peter and the Wolf, Op. 67
World-famous Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) composed his musical fairy tale in 1936, and generations of music lovers around the world have grown up and got to know musical instruments through playing. Each character is impersonated by a musical instrument in this charming tale, which is easy to follow even by young children and is full of humour. The conductor and storyteller of our concert, Gábor Horváth, first learned the violin and became a professional violinist, then he also learned conducting and choral conducting. He currently teaches conducting at the Academy of Music, and conducting and chamber music at the King Saint Stephen Conservatory of Music. He is the chief conductor of the Danube Symphony Orchestra.
